Coleus - Pineapple

Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. Coleus must have good soil drainage. The Coleus Pineapple, 'Coleus hybrid', has scalloped edges that adds to the already impressive contrast of ruby and chartreuse foliage. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. Frost will cause them to die immediately. The coleus plants are a tender perennials. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized contanier gardening. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. For zones 10-11, this plant can also be a perennial. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Plants suffering from "wet feet" will be stunted, leaves will turn a muddy brown, and leaf margins will be scorched. ... more information

 

Hot Peppers - Italian Roaster II The Pepper Italian Roaster II, Capsicum annuum' produces loads of long, thin green peppers per plant. The 8 inch fruit is about 1 inch wide and has thin walls. This is a virus resistant plant. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. Wash your hands immediately.
