Use this thornless tree for both street and lawn plantings. The Crusader Hawthorn, 'Crataegus crusgalli "Crusader' , is small tree that produces an abundance of white flowers in the spring. This thornless Hawthron has glossy green foliage and displays brilliant maroon colors in the fall. The white flowers are followed by dark red fruits which persist into winter. This tree is tolerant to tough urban conditions and pollution. The Crusader Hawthron is tolerant to shearing which makes this an excellent barrier or large hedge plant. The Princeton Sentry Ginkgo, 'Ginkgo biloba "Princeton Sentry", is a male cultivar (which are "fruitless"). Today the tree is often planted in cities because of its remarkable resistance to urban smog and to insect pests. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, including both alkaline and acidic soils and compacted soils.
