Hosta - Sum and Substance

‘Sum and Substance’ was named Hosta of the Year in 2004, and one can see why. Hosta ‘Sum and Substance’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained location. The Hosta Sum and Substance, 'Hosta', has large, rounded leaves with heavy puckering. The lavender flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known for their flowers. With a plant height of 36” and a spread of 60”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. The flowers are on 50” scapes, making it one of a kind. This Hosta is slug resistant and a vigorous grower. ‘Sum and Substance’ does require some sun to enhance its golden color. A great choice for any beginner gardener. Bellflower - Bowl of Cherries It has a plant height of 6-8” and a spread of 12-15”. PP13194. Try ‘Bowl of Cherries’ with Coreopsis ‘Early Sunrise’, Rudbeckia ‘Viette’s Little Suzy’ or Anthemis ‘Susan Mitchell’. ‘Blue Waterfall should be planted in full sun, but will tolerate morning shade and will do well in all types of soil. ‘Bowl of Cherries’ blooms from early summer to late spring and will sometimes repeat flowering in autumn. This ground cover is best used in rock gardens, as an edging or in tubs and post. The Bellflower, 'Campanula ‘Bowl of Cherries’, has showy, compact cherry-red flowers with dark green foliage.
